Government Law

The Firm has over 60 years of combined experience in local government law, with each member having served as the lead attorney in municipalities in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties.  That broad representation has given the Firm a major advantage when dealing with issues ranging from contract development and litigation to procurement, pension and employment related issues. The Firm also provides strategic advice to government officials and developers on complex matters affecting development and Community Redevelopment Agency led redevelopment projects.

We have also been successful helping companies interested in doing business with local and state agencies navigate the complex world of government contracts and the competitive bidding process (e.g., bids, RFPs and RFQs).

High Resolution Law Concept

Commercial Landlord-Tenant Lease Negotiation and Litigation

Hiring our Firm to negotiate and draft leases will prevent short and long-term problems in the commercial leasing environment.  A well-drafted lease will prevent litigation during the term of the lease.  If problems arise regarding the terms of a lease, the Firm is prepared to represent clients in state and federal court.

Land Use and Property Rights Litigation

The Firm’s attorneys have a keen knowledge of Land Use Law and the development review process.   Firm members have been involved in the development review process that led to the approval of numerous iconic developments in South Florida, including playing a critical role in the redevelopment the City of Sunny Isles Beach from a retirement community to a cosmopolitan city in a very short period of time and redevelopment of the City-owned marina in Riviera Beach.

With the Firm’s knowledge of the inner workings of government, the Firm is well-equipped to protect the rights of property owners who seek to develop their property or seek to protect their quality of life. The Firm provides representation to developers and property owners on various development and administrative approvals such as code enforcement, historic preservation, unsafe buildings, and land use and zoning.

General Business Litigation

The Firm’s goal is to prevent costly litigation.  If prevention is not successful, the Firm is prepared to represent clients in complex litigation in state and federal court.  The Firm understands that developing a litigation strategy is the first step in winning in court and the Firm has a track record for mediating and successfully litigating cases.

Real Estate and Contract Law

Conducting necessary due diligence as to the highest and best use of a property is important before purchasing any property. The Firm has successfully represented clients either seller or buyer in commercial real estate transactions and aggressively protected the interest of its clients. Firm members, understanding the art of negotiation, have successfully negotiated numerous complex agreements, including real estate purchase agreements, development agreements, sports contracts, and employment agreements.

Ethics and Election Law

Too often government officials (elected or appointed) find themselves without the proper guidance to prevent unnecessary ethics and election law investigations, and when issues arise, they are ill-equipped to handle queries.  Firm members have guided government officials through ethics regulations imposed by local and state agencies and have represented officials at both levels.  Having lectured on numerous ethics topics over the years and serving on ethics committees, we have become adept at maneuvering through the processes.

We also understand that in today’s world, an election is never over and that the results of an election may be challenged under state law.  The Firm is prepared to assist candidates during the election process to ensure compliance with state and local law, and when necessary, to litigate to protect the rights of candidates.
